The 1968 Carnival at a glance

The 1968 Carnival belongs to the “Winter Festivities” period of the festival's history. 1961-1975: the Carnival returns under the name «Winter Festivities». The official poster is the work of Juan Galarza. The Queen's Election Gala was held at Teatro Guimerá.

The 1968 Carnival Queen was Josefina Soriano Vela with the costume “Diosa del Sol”, designed by María Isabel Coello, representing Los Fregolinos. She was accompanied by 1 Maid of Honour.

In Rondallas and lyrical groups, Orfeón La Paz won first prize in Performance (its 5th title; its first win since 1966), ahead of Unión Artística El Cabo. In Costume contest, Miguel Delgado Salas won first prize in Individual. In Float contest, Asociación de Vecinos barrio de San Sebastián won first prize in Float contest, ahead of Casino Principal and Club de Pesca Atlántico. In Decorated cars, Peña won first prize in Decorated car contest.
