The 1970 Carnival at a glance

The 1970 Carnival belongs to the “Winter Festivities” period of the festival's history. 1961-1975: the Carnival returns under the name «Winter Festivities». The official poster is the work of Arola. The Queen's Election Gala was held at Teatro Guimerá.

The 1970 Carnival Queen was Rosina Hernández Hernández with the costume “Diosa del juego”, designed by María Isabel Coello, representing Club Marítimo Atlántico. Her court was completed by 4 Maids of Honour.

In Rondallas and lyrical groups, Tronco Verde won first prize in Performance (its 7th title; its first win since 1967), ahead of Masa Coral Tinerfeña. In Costume contest, Miguel Delgado Salas won first prize in Individual. In Float contest, Casino Principal won first prize in Float contest, ahead of Asociación de Vecinos barrio de San Sebastián and Agrupación Los Guanches. In Decorated cars, Peña won first prize in Decorated car contest.
