The 2007 Carnival at a glance

The 2007 Carnival belongs to the “Modern Carnival” period of the festival's history. Since 1976: the Carnival gets its name back and becomes a mass celebration. Its theme was “La Moda Fashion”. The official poster is the work of Karim Rashid.. The Queen's Election Gala was held at Recinto Ferial, directed by Rafael Amargo with stage design by Rafael Amargo.

The 2007 Carnival Queen was Elisabeth García with the costume “Miss Dior”, designed by Leo Martínez, representing Periódico El Día. Her court was completed by 10 Maids of Honour. Other crowns that year: Children's Queen: Saira Santana Ramos and Senior Queen: Mª. Isabel Hernández Padilla.

In Adult murgas, Los Diablos Locos won first prize in Performance (its 5th title; its first win since 2002), ahead of Afilarmónica Triqui-Traques and Los Bambones. In Children's murgas, Los Rebeldes won first prize in Performance (its 5th title; its first win since 2005), ahead of Los Castorcitos and Los Lenguas Largas. In Comparsas, Los Cariocas won first prize in Performance (its 8th title; its first win since 1995), ahead of Danzarines Canarios and Los Rumberos. In Rondallas and lyrical groups, Orfeón La Paz won first prize in Performance (its 31st title, 9 in a row), ahead of Lírico Coral Los Aceviños and Unión Artística El Cabo. In Musical groups, Caña Dulce won first prize in Performance (its 11th title; its first win since 2003), ahead of Sabor Isleño and Chaxiraxi. In Song of Laughter, No tengo el chichi p'a farolillos won first prize in Performance, ahead of Somos así and Los Marines. In Children's costume contest, Laura Perdomo Melián won first prize in Individual women's, ahead of Andrea Hernández Aguilar and Lidia Carreño González.
