The 2014 Carnival at a glance

The 2014 Carnival belongs to the “Modern Carnival” period of the festival's history. Since 1976: the Carnival gets its name back and becomes a mass celebration. Its theme was “Los Dibujos Animados”. The official poster is the work of Juan Pedro Hidalgo. The Queen's Election Gala was held at Recinto Ferial, directed by Juan Carlos Armas Febles with stage design by Toño León Galván.

The 2014 Carnival Queen was Amanda Perdomo Sanjuán with the costume “Poderosa amazona”, designed by Daniel Pagés, representing Mc Donald's y La Opinión de Tenerife. Other crowns that year: Children's Queen: Amanda Sánchez Suárez and Senior Queen: Águeda Méndez Montesdeoca.

In Adult murgas, Los Bambones won first prize in Performance (its 7th title, 3 in a row), ahead of Triquikonas and Los Diablos Locos. In Children's murgas, Los Pita Pitos won first prize in Performance (its 2nd title; its first win since 2008), ahead of Los Mamelones and Los Distraídos. In Comparsas, Los Joroperos won first prize in Performance (its 11th title; its first win since 2011), ahead of Los Cariocas and Tropicana. In Rondallas and lyrical groups, Orfeón La Paz won first prize in Performance (its 38th title, 16 in a row), ahead of Unión Artística El Cabo and Las Valkirias. In Musical groups, Caña Dulce won first prize in Performance (its 13th title; its first win since 2012), ahead of Chaxiraxi and Salsabor.
