The 2015 Carnival at a glance

The 2015 Carnival belongs to the “Modern Carnival” period of the festival's history. Since 1976: the Carnival gets its name back and becomes a mass celebration. Its theme was “Carnaval del Futuro”. The official poster is the work of Alejandro Tosco. The Queen's Election Gala was held at Recinto Ferial, directed by Juan Carlos Armas Febles with stage design by Toño León Galván.

The 2015 Carnival Queen was Adtemexi Cruz Hernández with the costume “Áurea”, designed by Jorge González Santana, representing Fuentealta y Asociación Cultural "Tu Santa Cruz". Other crowns that year: Children's Queen: Idaira Afonso Nazco and Senior Queen: Rosenda Campos Díaz.

In Adult murgas, Los Diablos Locos won first prize in Performance (its 7th title; its first win since 2011), ahead of Los Bambones and Trapaseros. In Children's murgas, Los Rebeldes won first prize in Performance (its 7th title; its first win since 2010), ahead of Los Rebobinados and Los Bambas. In Comparsas, Los Joroperos won first prize in Performance (its 12th title, 2 in a row), ahead of Danzarines Canarios and Los Cariocas. In Rondallas and lyrical groups, Unión Artística El Cabo won first prize in Performance (its 3rd title; its first win since 1975), ahead of Las Valkirias and Troveros de Nivaria. In Musical groups, Chaxiraxi won first prize in Performance (its 8th title; its first win since 2013), ahead of Salsabor and Caña Dulce.
